A Dreamy Desert Wedding: From Alamogordo to White Sands National Park

Weddings are magical, but when you throw in the jaw-dropping landscapes of New Mexico, they become downright unforgettable. I recently had the absolute joy of capturing a wedding that was as vibrant and adventurous as the couple themselves. From getting ready in Alamogordo to a sunset ceremony at White Sands National Park, and then partying the night away at The Tea Shed, this day was a whirlwind of love, laughter, and a whole lot of fun!

The Morning Buzz: Getting Ready in Alamogordo

The day kicked off in Alamogordo, where the bride and groom were surrounded by their nearest and dearest as they prepped for the big day. The bride’s suite at The Tea Shed was buzzing with excitement, filled with laughter, makeup brushes, and a soundtrack of happy tunes. There’s something so electric about those pre-wedding moments—the giddy nerves, the final touches, and the sweet moments of quiet before the storm of celebration begins.

I captured some of my favorite candid shots as the bride’s daughter twirled around in her flower girl dress while the bridesmaids got ready & the groomsmen toasting with some pre-wedding beers. The energy was contagious, and I couldn’t wait to see how the rest of the day would unfold!

Saying ‘I Do’ in a Desert Wonderland: White Sands National Park

Next stop: White Sands National Park, a place that’s basically a photographer’s dream come true. Imagine rolling dunes of pure white sand stretching as far as the eye can see—it’s like something out of a surreal desert dream. And that’s exactly where this incredible couple decided to tie the knot.

With the most perfect weather surrounding them, the couple exchanged vows in a ceremony that was both intimate and awe-inspiring. Using a couple decorations provided by The tea shed & Mother Nature putting on her best show they said “I do”! Just love, laughter, and a whole lot of happy tears as they became husband and wife.

After, we took advantage of the stunning backdrop for some epic portrait shots. The gorgeous sunset & blue hour light turned the dunes into a masterpiece, and the couple? Absolute naturals in front of the camera! We captured everything from sweet, candid moments to some seriously stunning posed shots that looked straight out of a movie.

Party Time: The Tea Shed in Alamogordo

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we made our way back to Alamogordo for the reception at The Tea Shed. If you’ve never been, The Tea Shed is this cozy, charming spot that feels like its own little world—perfect for an intimate, laid-back celebration. After the grandeur of White Sands, it was the perfect place to kick back, relax, and really let loose.

The reception was a blast, with heartfelt speeches that had everyone laughing (and maybe tearing up a bit), a first dance that felt straight out of a fairytale, and some seriously good food. The Tea Shed’s rustic charm was the perfect backdrop for the evening’s festivities, with twinkling lights and personal touches from the couple making it feel warm and welcoming.

And of course, no wedding is complete without a little dancing under the stars. The couple and their guests hit the dance floor, celebrating with joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day, and I was so honored to be there to capture every moment.
